Newbie Questions
Greetings!
I am just about to take delivery of our new XC90 T8 Inscriptikn in a few weeks and I am getting ready ordering goodies for it. I already have a boot liner, screen protectors, seat kick guard for the boy and the Pod-Point is being fitted in a few weeks. Plus a faraday pouch to nobody steals it. But what other goodies do I need? Dealer is unclear as to what/if I need to buy a data sim for the Sensus to get live traffic data and the Volvo app up and running. Anyone else got a Podpoint? I chose one without the cable built in to it for future proofing but I think I’ve made a mistake - it could be hassle getting the cable out the boot all the time to charge it. Plus I’ll have to buy the cable at additional cost, but can use it anywhere we go. All tips and suggestions welcome. Thanks, Simon |

You do not need a data sim to use the VOC app. you can tether your phone or use a data sim for RTTI and other internet, (sensus app and map updates) or to use the cars hotspot for internet sharing for tablets etc.
Hands free Voice Messaging is also enabled with internet connection. Dont buy the Volvo mudflaps, buy the chinese ones from ebay for less than £30 for 4, they are just as good and look exactly the same and only take minutes to fit each one. The Volvo rubber winter mat set are a very good buy though and worth buying if you cant get them thrown in for nowt. Worth asking.

Here is extras with approx costs
Mudguards. 200. Don’t need a sim. It will use existing VOC for traffic but for large OTA map updates tether your phone. Sensus satnav is best not relied on for local travel where local knowledge will beat it 9/10. 0 Consider opticoat pro or a ceramic paint coat from a good detailer. 1k Decide on your winter tyre solution - 700 (if buying a set of matching tyres to swap round) 2.5k (if buy a whole set of wheels you dont like), snow sock and hope for the best - 100. Note different storage requirements for tyres and wheels. Quality Child Seat protector for the seat where it is fitted - 50 Leather cleaner (volvo wipes are fine - more often with convenient ok cleaner better than fancy cleaner very rarely) 100 a few bottles of volvo washer fluid 10 European travel kit from AA or RAC 40 store in third row foot well, but remember to have in car when travelling.

Thanks for the replies.
I was really unsure about the data sim but it sounds like I should leave it. I will get the car treated with GTechniq protection and maybe even PPF film to save it getting battered as the family battle bus. Mud flaps are a potential but look so ugly. S PS I have seat protectors - as much child anti trashing goodies as possible. |

I have a pod point, works well, also well worth it if you intend to charge the car during the day between trips if you make any.
I choose the one with the lead, as it saves messing around, but I still bought another lead for public chargers, type 2 to type 2, but yet to use it. |

As nu11eaf said- don’t pass on the all weather mats- these are a must, particularly if you have kids..
