Now I know, but I've already taken the plunge. Happy anyway

Hi, just came across this thread.

I am looking at a set of 16" steels for my V60 D3 R Design, you know the ones that come with the stupid but fashionable 18" wheels (235/40/18's) - Ride is dually shocking on these, and something im not use to really, as usually opt for smaller rims, so not looking forward to avoiding potholes in the dark over winter!

Anyway, could I confirm they will fit over my discs etc, just recently fitted new brake discs and were (300mm)? I presume they will

mytyres sell the steels, all well and good, but I have heard Ford Mondeo steel wheels fit...

So, looking at Ford Mondeo steel wheels on mytyres, they are £10/15 cheaper per wheel and have EXACTLY the same fitment, albeit they are 6.5J rather than the 7J stated on the Volvo fitment steels.

So my question also, would be would 6.5J be ok over 7J

Would appreciated any advice

...just to save someone getting back to me, I've purchased some 16" OEM Volvo alloys instead (7J/ET50), so these I know will be fine.

Thanks

For anyone that is interested, any details I have are on the preceding page. One thing I did jut check was the brake disc diameter and this is 30cm on my car, so the wheels I ordered (LK 5 x 108.00 x 63.30) should fit with discs that size. See also the later post about bolts though to avoid the pain on this front

Did you mean 300mm (brake disc diameter)? Mine are 300mm, just had these replaced, so OEM V60 16" alloys (7J X ET50 as stated in handbook) should be fine, found a cheaper set, rather than steels so wont need to replace the bolts, use existing ones

Going to be nice going from 18's with 40 profile, to 215/55's pure comfort!

yes 30cm brake disc diameter = 300mm so you should be fine. You will definitely notice a more comfortable ride!

ha of course, excuse my dumbness

Ive managed to slightly buckle X2 of my 18's, not alot but a little - roads are absolutely awful up here in the North West anyway!

So happy to get some comfort for the darker months, I will post an image of my setup on here when I fit them, as it will be rather stark contrast seeing a R Design V60 on such shopping trolley wheels, think it will lower the car another 1mm also.

Just thought I would update this.

Acquired some 16" V40 Cross Country alloys, for my cheap winter setup...£120 with X4 summers 6mm!! That I don't need so will move on, think that's a steal tbh

Did a trial fit today and all is good, they are very tight against the calipers but clear just fine (not this image)

Will be mounting my winter tyres soon on to them.

All fitted, superbly comfortable.

The ride is now more fitting to what a Volvo should ride like, a magic carpet
