What year is your car?

Up to 1995 you're in luck as it's easy by following Robert's link here CLICK

1996 and 1997 you need a special electronic tool by either Draper or Sykes Pickavant

On a '97 V70 the Volvo FCR system has a facility for the service light:~
A forum member done my car- it may be worthwhile asking for help.

The Draper tools are no longer available but some do come up from time to time via sales or ebay/similar.
I think some just take the bulb out.
Bob.

Is it easy to remove the bulb? Or do I have to dismantle half the dashboard, just wondered would it fail an MOT if the service light was showing

I don't think your MOT would be effected:~ never seen any reports to the contrary - It normally remains off anyway.

Nothing specific to add for the dash removal as I haven't at this stage had the pleasure!
Probably quite straight forward but as usual with these tasks they can be long winded, someone will advise further I'm sure.
Good luck.
Bob.

Service light is not an MOT fail, just annoying waiting on it going off after every start of the engine

I have both Draper and Sykes Pickavant reset tools available for sale

Hi,

If you car is an OBD2 equiped 850 (port under the coin holder), you can reset it using a diagnostics box. I have an iCarSoft that also does all sorts of other useful things as well but I'm sure there are others available.

BR,

Rich.

Rich.
iCarsoft doesn't work on the 850 as it doesn't have a fully functioning OBDII, it's more like OBD1.5
