Wow! The price is reduced to £7,500 - I bet they will sell like hot cakes now :-)

"will need light resto for road use"
My definition must be out of date.

Ooft. That's some price for two broken old cars.

Otherwise I'd be genuinely interested in a 240 with a v8, even if it needed a lot of work.

I'd be cheaper just putting a v8 in my own car (1UZ anyone?)

Excellent idea, especially as the A340 gearbox hung on the back of the early 1UZ engines is near identical to the AW70/1/2 box used in our Volvos. Makes mounting the gearbox and connecting the prop a spanner job. Not so sure on the engine mounts/exhaust manifolds though but sure it isn't insurmountable, after all others have already converted the 2/7/9xx cars to 1UZ power.
In fact there's a gut on YT (i believe he's in Holland, lucar-carmods i think he's called) that has done just that and even produced a kit to make fitting easier with various mounts and other things. D'oh! Got his name slightly wrong but here's episode 3 of him converting a 244 to 1UZ power :

Enjoy!

There was a kit to fit a SBC in 200s in the States. Effectively a cradle that mounts on the chassis legs. Id ignore Rovers and go for something cheaper to build, enter the 350 Chevy..

Thinking about it, I would probably prefer something like the 5 cylinder 2.5 diesel from the V70 TDI. It would make the 240 a real daily driver car with plenty of oomph and very low running costs.

Not very future proof though, stinky diesels are not flavour of the month . Mind you, my idea about using an engine designed in the time before Elvis shot to fame is equally anachronistic!
