I'm about to post something very similar ... new V70 petrol bought on saturday .Would not start/fire today .. Had the very same thing 4 years ago with a D5. Topped up diesel/petrol and it was all good. Even though gauge shows no way near empty . Something to do with the pump /sensor under rear seats . So engine thinks there is bugger all fuel and it wont fire

Might be wrong , but could be right ? !!

Change your fuel filter too. I had this issue on low fuel when mine was old. been fine since.

There are numerous threads about Buying genuine Volvo fuel filters and the issues that can go wrong if you don't.

However they are stupidly expensive so on another thread (which I can't find just now) someone found a link to the actual manufacturer of the genuine Volvo filter (Purflux) and they are sold on ebay for £11. Brand-New-Purflux-Fuel-Filter-

Brand New Purflux Fuel Filter - C516 - 12 Months Warranty!
