Hiya all,

My S40 2010 1.6 diesel is having issues, had various mechanics looking at but no joy

ECM-4477 EGR Control
ECM-4490 EGR Valve
ECM-6620 Glow relay Control (This is new, was not there before)
ECM-6720 EGR Control

ABS-0101 Communication between control modules. Communication problems with the engine control Module ECM.

Turbo has been replaced, EGR replaced 2 days ago. Car is in slight limp mode.

Hi,

Can a cracked/leaking inlet/intake manifold cause an egr errors and an oil leak? I have noticed an oil leak around one of the injectors and then it spreads through rest of the top of the engine.

As per previous posts on a similar topic.. was it a Volvo genuine EGR valve or an aftermarket part? If not genuine Volvo, replace with a genuine Volvo EGR.

The oil leak you are seeing is almost certainly a leaking copper injector seal (the bit that seals between the injector and the cylinder head), and what you are seeing is diesel leaking up from inside the cylinder. Also look for black, coal like deposits around the injectors. If this is the case you should really see to this soon as it will only get worse.

Also check the big rubber hose that goes from the air filter box to the turbo housing. These can split, especially around the hose clip that secures it to the turbo, and I've seen them throw egr codes.

When I replaced my egr I had to reprogram it with VIDA, someone may correct me as to whether this is actually neccessary.
