Could you perhaps test the siren and its internal battery? Open the boot hatch and access the battery. Trip the boot latch so that the car thinks it's closed. Lock with the remote fob to arm the alarm. Wait a few minutes. Disconnect the vehicle battery. The alarm siren should sound - being driven by its internal battery for up to 15 minutes. Reconnect the vehicle battery and unlock to disarm the alarm. If the siren doesn't sound, it isn't working. New siren batteries available, but often the acid from the failed battery damages the siren circuit board. I replaced my siren with a new one and was concerned to find that the Alarm Service Warning didn't initially disappear - however, it seemed to reset itself after a number of lock / unlock cycles and now works fine.
