Balljoints query
random query re: balljoints, I have ordered replacements because I'm changing my front shocks and it seems daft not to change balljoints while I've got it all apart.. should have done them when doing the wishbones really
was a bit confused about it saying XC70 but part number matches what VIDA is telling me, and ebay compatibility check agrees anyway have ordered these: my question is.. why are there what looks like subframe bolts included in the picture. it's not just these ones either, I looked at others and they showed the 2 big bolts as well. am i missing something.. I thought it was just the two little bolts fixing it to the hub part and the nut on the underside of the wishbone also while I'm on-topic, whats the torque wrench setting for the big nut? ta Last edited by stuart bowes; Oct 25th, 2021 at 16:46. |

Assuming you're talking about the bolts with the thick washers, they look like the axle/hub bolts to me. Torque setting for hub/axle bolt is 35nm initially, then 90 degrees from memory. Had the driveshaft out on my R recently.

Ah, my bad. I don't have it infront of me currently, so can't remember the name of the tab but there's a section on VIDA which has the torque rating for pretty much every nut 'n' bolt on these cars. That should tell you.

The answer to this for anyone else who might need it in future is..
Ball joint in control arm aluminium (M12) 50 Nm + 40º Ball joint in control arm steel (M14) 100 Nm |
