XC60 settings /fault
My brother in-law today purchased a 2009 XC60. He's driven it 3 hours home to find a fault with the driver's side mirror. When unlocking the car it automatically moves away from the door as it should but doesn't stop until it's gone too far.
Can you turn the auto function off like you can in the V40 settings What's the long term fix? |

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a UTube video, showing how to repair this fault. It does mean stripping the mirror down and I’m pretty certain it’s due to a small pin. I’ll see if I can re-find it.
Look on UTube for 2012 XC60 folding mirror fix

Yes there is a YouTube video on this, I have seen it. Unfortunately no help to me as even though I have ticked the setting on display I cannot get my vehicle to close its wing mirrors on locking the car🙄

Can you not fold the mirrors by using the two buttons either side of the adjustment button?

This thread has YT links for info on the repair... https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=302904
The door mirrors are terrible. They freeze up overnight in winter and make a horrible noise when trying to unfold. Best to disable them from within the infotainment system vehicle settings.

Mine have a loud 'whirring noise' (normal i assume) and in winter i disable the folding as when it freezes the mirrors can stick in the closed position and that cant be good when it it strying to open them

Me too. I worry that them being frozen in position will excessively strain the motor and I suspect that the broken pin failure probably occurs due to this.

I also used to have frozen mirror syndrome when temperatures dropped, but since spraying the hinge liberally with silicon spray (NOT WD40) I have not had the problem recur.
