Default E10 petrol

Not sure if this is the right page for this post, pls say if not.

I'm surprised how few people know or care about the changes to petrol from next month. I'd be interested in views here from owners of older and classics that may not be compatible or will run poorly on this 'stuff'.

I notice Toolstation selling this https://www.toolstation.com/b3c-etha...biliser/p19760 which we will need for a fair bit of machinery it would seem.

Volvo Pocket data for example says use 95 Octane in my 940 but in reality if ran 100 times better on Super/BP Ultimate/Shell V-Power.

A trip to France one time in my then 760 2.3 it was very ill on their on low Octane stuff but Super wasn't so easy to lay hands on where I was driving.

Just interested in other views on this. More ways to try and force electric cars and kill off classics?

Its not the octane that makes your car run "better".

Its because the higher octane fuels are more expensive, and they are more expensive because they contain different additive packages that improve combustion and give a faster, more uniform flame front, and that in turn is beneficial for power and economy.

E10 is 95 RON, so is no different in that regard to current 95 RON unleaded.

Acdording to Volvo all their cars manufacturered since 1976 are E10 compliant, provided all parts that come into contact with the liquid fuel are genuine Volvo, so there is not much for us Volvo owners to get excited about.

Yet the RAC are apparently warning against using it on pre-2002 which I'm sure isn't without basis of fact. Older relative has a Nissan Micra on the not compatible list and nearest garage to get Super is 25 mile round drive

The reason is E10 is more corrosive to fuel lines etc.

Lucky for us Volvo made the cars ready for it
