Before the car was fixed. Amazingly the grill flew out the bonnet and smashed it to bits, yet the bonnet was untouched, apart from the kink in the corner. I had a replacement grill that went straight in! I did need a replacement resin front panel, as it was badly cracked. I sourced a front panel for £30, Complete front bumper £20, new indicator £18, pair of headlights £40. That's all that was needed. 😉

Looks good. Well done on saving it.

I doubt it made any more economic sense than my repairing my V70 Tdi after a cambelt failure but that's not the point. There's just something about these cars isn't there.

Well the diesel variant is getting hard to find now as you will already know. Especially while Rudi is hiding them in his hedge bottom! Once i found a place that could straighten the car, it was an easy decision. In a few years, as long as it's still on the road, i will look back and see that it did make economic sense, as the 850 diesel is nearly extinct now and prices are rising.

I just don't like the more modern cars. These older Volvo's are simpler, cheaper and easier to maintain, and more spacious inside than its more modern replacement. Its also cool to be driving cars that are now few and far between on the roads! 😎

I'm really chuffed you got her repaired.. well done indeed..

Monetary value's not everything.. what its worth to you means more. I've been there a couple of times with my old TDI, thought she was destined for the breakers, but persevered and saved the old gal. Still going strong at 275K.

Dave..

Nice to see you managed to save it. At the end of the day, replacing like for like would have set you back a grand plus if you could find one in decent condition, and you would have spent more than a grand buying another car if you couldn't.

And yes, there is certainly something cool about having a "rare" car.
