S80 D5 Auto, 2004, 160K, £1200, East/South Midlands
For sale is this Volvo S80 D5, 2004 model, Auto (AW55-51), 163bhp. Green (It's a very dark green, almost looks black on the photos) 160K, I've had it since January (Since 152K). I bought this for a skiing trip back in February, taking 4 of us with equipment. Since then it's been a commuter car, doing about 60 miles a day on average, mostly dual carriageway/motorway. I recently bought another motor from a chap at work, and I've no need for a big car anymore, so I've decided to let it go for someone else to enjoy. Good Points; - MOT until 29th October, no advisories on last test. - SE spec, winter pack (heated seats, drivers is electric, cruise control, climate control, headlamp wipers, leather seats all round) - Has the awesome HU-850 stereo with 6 CD changer and the Dolby Prologic sound system in it. Sounds brilliant. - New intercooler, front drop links and aux belt 3 days ago! - New top engine mount and torque rod a few weeks ago. - Cam belt was done around 100K, I've got a replacement genuine kit for when it needs doing again, which will go with the car. - Air con works a charm, as do heated seats! - All electronics work fine - except for the sunroof, which stopped working last week. - Could be a fuse, I'll check it next time I'm out in it. - Bodywork in good condition for age, no dents but a few small marks here and there. - 4 tyres with plenty of life left. - Nice wad of history, don't think it's full but there's certainly a lot there. - Auto fluid has been changed by Volvo dealership by the previous owner December 2014 to fix a cold shifting issue. - PAS flush 4 months ago. Lovely and green fluid now. - I regularly get over 50mpg from it, even sitting in queues and after some enthusiastic driving. Bad Points; I've sold a few Volvo's on here before, and I like to list everything I've noticed with the car that is out of the ordinary, whether a genuine fault or niggle. It will just waste everybody's time if I don't list them. - Steering can feel a slight notchy at a certain angle, around the 40 degree mark - it's not horrific but can be noticed at times. Worst case - it's the rack, best case - some grease on the UJ will fix. I'll add some grease and see if it helps. It hasn't got worse in the 8K miles I've done in it. - Alarm Service Required message. I've had the alarm unit out and replaced the battery, but the old one has leaked on the circuit board. A new (or second hand) board will be needed to clear the message. - Anti Skid service - this is an intermittent one and I've attributed it to driveshaft bolts coming loose. I tightened them up and it clears the message, but it has started to come back over the last week. - Sunroof stopped working last week, fuse is fine. - I've only ever had 1 key for it. And something worth mentioning; - When driving at a constant 35-40 on a flat road and the throttle in just the "right" position, it can't decide what gear is best between 4th and 5th. Makes a difference of about 100rpm but you don't notice anything else apart from the increased rev. Pop it on cruise control and it's fine. Have investigated this at length and it seems a trait of these gearboxes, and the software used to control gearing dependent on engine load. All gear changes are smooth and no flares/knocks/bangs. Thought it was worth mentioning. Here's an example thread with several people experiencing the same thing. http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/archiv...p/t-19918.html Overall, it does drive and run well, it's a nice car to take a cruise in, plus it's rather a quick beast if you put your foot down. I take it out most days to work, it's a joy. Test drives welcome but insurance will need to be present. I'm also happy to take anyone out in it for a spin. I'm looking for £1,200 for it. In the day it's usually over in NG2, but it also heads over to LE67, LE10, CV11 and MK9. Will accommodate where I can. Pictures - for which Mr Sun did his very best to glare my lens - are of it on Sunday, just after it's wash and hoover. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks chaps.
It's very clichéd, but I will be sad to see it go - I'm still using it daily until it is sold, even this morning it was a cracking drive to work. There's been a little interest from a guy at work too, let's hope it finds a good home!

Resurrecting this thread - I bought this S80 a couple of years ago, it's given us great service but I haven't really kept up with the maintenance to the same degree as Paffel. Hopefully someone with a bit of time on their hands can do the work to keep it on the road.
Mileage is now up to 177k so fairly light use over the last two years, most of what is written in the original ad still applies, the steering feel is a bit variable, most noticeable when going round a roundabout - but we've found we just got used to it. Additional bad points: *Air conditioning no longer blows cold. *Information display on bottom left of dashboard is intermittent, sometimes garbled, mostly no display at all. Everything else on the dashboard works all the time. *Bit of a knock from the front when driving over uneven surfaces. Suspect a droplink needs attention again. *Needs new front tyres, and probably rears soon as well. If I was keeping the car I'd be replacing all 4. *Fold out cupholder aft of gear lever is broken, should be repairable and I will try to sort it before the sale. *Slow coolant leak, when I was using the car regularly it was topped up approx monthly with about half a litre. *Plastic trim has come away from driver's seat belt aperture on the B pillar (shown in photo) *Car is SORN has been on my drive for about a month now.
