Default 12V Socket HELP HELP HELP!

Hello fellow Volvo Owners

This is my first post on the forum

I have an S80 D5 Auto 2005 (UK standard car). It is fitted with an emergency response strobe/led light system and siren.
They draw their power from the 12v socket at the centre console.
For some reason they blew the fuse the other day and I have been unable to get them back on. I have previously blown the fuse and replaced it successfully when using an in car DVD player but now I am unable to find out why both sockets (front and rear) do not work. I have checked every fuse in all three compartments with a multimeter and every one works. The previous fuse was located under the centre dash in the drivers foot well. It is rated at 15A.
I am at a real loss as to why they do not work.
Is there something I am missing??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Incidentally all fuses in my epuipment are healthy and the lights/siren work when connected independantly to a 12v source. Thanks.

No idea if this will help but one of my 12v sockets (in the boot area of V70) remains live with ignition off but will cut out if battery volts too low. That suggests to me there is some electronics involved. Maybe one of yours has something similar and has gone phut??

The sockets you mention are interconnected via an electrical distribution ground cable that also grounds the rh interior lights and the glovebox lighting. CEM is 4/56 E:1 RHD. THERE IS A RELAY ASSOCIATED no 2/61 (According to the wiring diagram found at
http://www.morgis.net/Volvoforum/Bro...ction_3_39.pdf )- shown on page 19 of 21.

The relay may not be closing, in the first instance, try gently, but sharply tapping the relay with small screw driver, it might free jammed contacts. I am unclear as to where that relay may be located, but in all probability, given the ground cable, run probably bootspace on nearside.

Thanks guys - I tried all the advice but to no avail. Is it worth just fitting new 12v sockets instead as I just cant figure this out. Also there are so many versions of where the fuses are supposed to be - my manual differs from the actual vehicle set up.

My boot 12v socket kept blowing, rather than mess about trying to trace it I just put new spade connectors onto existing socket and wired it with an in line fuse direct to the battery.

You can get a switchable fuse panel if you're worried about permanent live in the front, expensive solution though. click There's probably a cheaper/larger version available from a car electrical supplier.
