240 flywheel
Hi all
Does anyone have an uncooked flywheel for sale? I need a dogdish flywheel for a 2.3l fuel injected manual car (mine is a 1991 estate) - mileage isn't really the issue. Having a clean unscored/unhardened friction surface is the issue Can anyone help? Please and thanks Nick |

Hi Nick,
I have a few flywheels available. I have seen flywheels glazed before but it does not normally cause an issue. What is the problem you are having? Regards Dai |

Hi Dai
Ok, well could certainly be interested in a flywheel...you're going to ask if I need one with a sensor, and I think that the answer is yes, but I'll have to double check... I had a gearbox problem so I had a replacement gearbox put in. The clutch juddered really badly (undriveable) so I sourced a replacement flywheel. The garage who did the work could not find anyone who could grind either flywheel adequately (because of the design). Both flywheels have raised spots on them that are hardened spots apparently. They put in the better of the two...if I gently lift the clutch with no revs I get a bit of judder (and engine wobble), but the car moves off and away we go. Reversing induces more judder and any revs at all also induces judder. There are no oil leaks and both clutches are/were either brand new or with almost no wear - any ideas? (gearbox is 200k miles but is sweet, back axle and prop are also fine) Nick |

I have a company here that can resurface the flywheels but because they are so hard the finish is not perfect.
The juddering you describe is often down to engine mounts causing the engine to jump about juddering and sending vibrations through teh car. I sugest either genuine volvo mounts or poly ones A 91 car sould be LH2.4 and needs a flywheel with timing marks |
