Dog cages
I'm looking to get a second hand dog crate/cage that will fill the boot space of my 2016 XC70. I want the rigid box type, rather than household wire crate type.
My preferred makes are as follows: DT Boxes (model DT3) Lintran (model DB6) Trans K9 (model C18) Does anyone have experience of how these fit the XC70 please? The dimensions of the base and height are easy enough to check, but it's ensuring the profile higher up is correct to allow the tailgate to shut that is more tricky without committing to a long drive to physically check. Thanks in anticipation. Nick

We have one of these for our dog:
http://cheeko.co.uk/product.php?id=113 It is totally brilliant, and fits the V70 easily, with room to spare. Plus it folds down when not in use. Last year we went on holiday with the dog, and was able to put the crate fully assembled in the boot, plus enough luggage for four adults for a two week stay in Cornwall - well over 1000 miles in all. We had thought about a top box for the suitcases, but the V70 boot swallowed all the luggage with ease and the top box wasn't needed at all. We took four decent sized wheelie cases, plus coats, boots, and all the paraphernalia needed. When the crate is in the boot you have to let the load cover hang down, and when we went on our hols last year we left the load cover at home. But our dog loves it, he has a comfortable mattress in there too. He's a medium sized collie cross, weighing in at around 16kg, and there's plenty of room for him in the crate. It also stays put, and doesn't need to be fastened down at all. All in all, it's excellent and we wouldn't be without it. Jack Last edited by capt jack; Apr 10th, 2024 at 20:36. |
