Default Advice needed from a newbie

Hello and sorry for my first post being a request for help!!

I bought a 2004 S40 (new shape) in January of this year and I have been very happy with it so far. However for the past few weeks I have been getting a strange noise from the car that I can't work out what it is and was hoping maybe someone might have an idea.

The car drives like new and starts no problem, however when I switch off the car I get a really strange noise from under the bonnet, it sounds electrical but I can't figure out what it can be. It seems to come from the left hand side near the light but its a strange noise and it is quite hard to describe.

Anyone had anything similar.....

Its a S40 2.4 SE automatic if that helps.

Grateful for any pointers that anyone may have......
