1989 Volvo 740 GLE estate breaking.
Ive bought this old Volvo 740 from JamesN to pull the LPG system from it so ill be breaking the rest from spares.
Its in pretty good shape (apart from going though a hedge), the tan leather interior looks in good nick apart from a little wear on the drivers bolster and there are many other useful spares that would be worth saving. The engine starts and runs very well although it looks like the headgasket has started weeping, theres lots of water in the oil- a bit too much to be just damp! Excellent manual gearbox, 4 speed+overdrive. Everything much go and will be cheap as chips! Collection from Stoke on Trent, ST6 or can post at cost. My laptop is busted again so its probably best to ring me on o782Io82358

If you've seen my other posts today you'll know what's coming - does it have a VDO thermal time switch? (looks like a large coolant temp sensor)
Cheers. |

The tan leather is in very good condition, defiantly better than my current 740 estate that i have. Make a good bargain for someone.

BTW methinks that the pic is a good advert the strength of old Volvos;
21 years old and ends up front-first in a hedge with not much damage to show for it past the front wheel arch.

The volvo is now completely gutted to a bare rolling shell and yes, there is very little damage. Theres a dent under the rear light, rippled rear doors, NS outer wing wiped out, inner wing dented but servicable and the NS headlight panel is a bit crunched. No damage underneath amazingly, a true testament to the quality, strength and thouroughness of design. It is usual to find much more damage when stripping a car down after a bump. Not in the case of volvos it seems!
