Default 144 screeching brakes/intermittent wipers?

Any advice please? The brakes on my '67 144 are screeching and it's driving me mad!I've fitted anti-screech shims to the front(my local motor factor doesn't list rear shims),I've applied copa-slip to the backs of the pads, and the slides are all clean and pads are nice and free.As the brakes warm up,the screeching gets worse.I've kept the existing discs (the brakes work perfectly as the car sailed through MOT recently)and the pads are all under 12 months old.Any ideas anyone? Also I'd like to fit an intermittent wiper switch, has anyone done this to a 140?Thanks for reading.

My father in law had a similar problem and it turned out to be a problem with the brake hoses and had to be replaced. He tried all that you tried and eventually ended up with a brake stuck on with smoke billowing out from the wheel/brake. I assume you have tried doing an emergency stop at about 10mph as that can sometimes solve squealing brake problems. I now have the car and I do still have the odd squeal every now and then.

Hi

Here's my two-penny'orth. .

The obvious cause of the noise is contact between the pads and the disc! (I know, I know. . .)

The reason that the pads are maintaining contact could be stuck (or sticky calipers), air in the system, a damaged flexi-hose (previous suggestion)or a stuck (or sticky) master cylinder (could also be a foreign body between the pads and the disc but unlikely)

Cheers

Stuart

Only one answer to your problem... Dont fit cheap brake pads... your noise will then go....
