Folding Mirrors
'57 Plate - Volvo V50 D5 Sport SE R Design:
Folding mirrors? Yes or No. I've looked on parkers, this forum and google but cannot find an answer. According to my owners manual, if I hold the "L" & "R" mirror selection buttons, they should fold in. Repeat to unfold them. I've tried this a number of times. Engine on, off, praying to the volvo gods etc. Nothing at all. I've manually pushed 1 side in, it doesn't feel to have the resistance of a motor when I pushed it but I just don't know. Any suggestions would be gratefully received - I did use the forums search function however after much searching, either I missed it, or there's not a definitive answer. |

As far as I am aware the folding mirrors were an option for the v502007 model year maybe the car wasn't speced to have them

It was indeed an option. If you had it, you'd see a little picture between the buttons denoting how to fold them.

I have an SE Lux S40 and I think it comes as standard (I believe this is part of the "Lux" trim so I wouldn't expect it on SE).

Thank you all for your helpful responses. I'll check to see if I have the icon highlighting how to fold them in - I don't remember seeing it though. Seems odd to have heated electric mirrors but not have the functionality to fold them in!
Many thanks |

An SE is unlikely to have them. They'd be an optional extra.
If you've tried pressing both L&R buttons together then you don't have them. It's not unusual, almost every car I have owned has had heated electric mirrors with no electric folding mechanism. It's becoming more common now that it was but often still only on higher spec cars.

Thank you for the info. Perhaps I'm just used to my SE 406 coupe from 13 years ago with heated, electric folding mirrors
I'll fold them in manually then, burn some calories. |

I had a Peugeot 406 before the Volvo and that had folding mirrors. And a footrest. And a rear blind. And Heated memory seats. And an Arm Rest........

But it did have the drawback that it was a Peugeot. ;-) I had a French car once. It was the first and it was also that last, without a shadow of a doubt.
