Loss of Power/Turbo after coasting
I have a 2006 D5 auto 165,000 miles. Had the car go into what felt like limp mode and with the windows down realised the turbo was not spinning up after a 20+ minute drive. Further examples show that this only happens after coasting, e.g coming off the motorway (where the engine has been pulling fine) coast down the slip road and come to a stop. When I push the accelerator, no power, car creeps up in speed- lighter throttle gives a slightly better pick up, but still very slow. Loss of power/ability to accelerate is worse if going up hill.
Had engine system service warning light (EGR fault code), then Soot filter full warning come on. Local garage has mapped out EGR and forced regen- no warning lights anymore but still suffer same loss of power after a 20 minute drive if I coast. Have managed to drive around the problem by keeping foot on accelerator rather than fully lifting off and braking later so that revs drop quickly- this seems to keep the fault from occurring. Any ideas before the car goes back to the garage next week? |

Do you know what the EGR fault code was? Did they do anything other than delete the EGR? If the valve itself has stuck then mechanically it may still be the cause?
