Tyre Choice for 123GT
Im not sure what the GT tyre size was originally and am looking for a suitable all weather tyre for road use only on my soon to be completed rebuild .
I will be running the car as close to standard spec as possible including the regular 4.5j volvo wheels. If anyone can recommend a suitable tyre size upgrade and manufacturer I will take a look I have run vredestein quartrac 195 /65 15 before on road rally cars with 5.5j wheels and these were good but not sure if running on 4.5j might not be quite right ??? |

Standard wheels are 4". Are you sure you have 4.5" wheels? These came on the estate and the 1800 if I am not mistaken.

Red;
According to my tire chart, minimum wheel width for 195/65 15 is 5.5". See: https://www.sw-em.com/Wheels_Tires_S...nd_Wheel_Sizes Cheers |

Yes. the GT came with 4" wheels and standard 165 tyres. Not much choice now in this size, especially in better brands and qualities. Are Continental still available?

Derek;
...don't know about Contis, but last summer, I bought new production Vredestein Sprint Classics in 165/78-15, which work out well for the 4" standard wheels... Cheers |

I run Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 and think they are excellent. But on wider rims so don't know what other sizes they do.

If you want to be OEM, the Vredestein Sprint Classic would probably be the ticket. Not cheap and availability can be spotty so you may need to start the search early.
The Sprint Classic is listed as a summer tire, not an all season tire. Ultra ultra paranoid people say that summer class tires should not be driven in temperatures below 5 C. I would check with Vredestein to see what there guidance is around allowable operating temperatures for the Sport Classic. A temperature limitation might influence your selection. |

I have been running 195/65-15's on 4J wheels for nearly 30 years set at 30PSI wear is even. They are tight to get on but do go. 4.5J is a better fit for them. You could otherwise use the 185/65-15 but they are slightly low geared
