Default Blue smoke

Hi all,

The t5 (me7) is giving a plume of blue smoke when started from warm, also under load.
The car done exactly the same months ago but was white smoke- now its blue, done a compression test all is fine, also think the maf is on its way out as revs hunt on tick over but dont think the maf issue would cause it smoke.

Any ideas?

PCV? Oil leaking into the turbo? Take off the "top" pipe - the one from Turbo to IC, see if theres oil in it?

Is it using much oil? (Blue smoke is Oil iirc? )

Yeh its starting to use oil abit now, engine is on 213000 miles, original turbo and nothing in the service history about a PCV change ever.

My car started to use oil when the pcv needed doing,1 litre easily every 800-1000 miles and sometimes when pulling away sharply it would leave a blue cloud behind,Since it's been done.....No smoke and hardly any oil consumption plus a definite increase in power.I done mine at about 195,000 miles and it was very badly blocked.Have you any smoke from the dipstick tube?

Hi Andy, yep oil consumption about the same as yours 1 liter to 800- 1000 miles, did get a big bluey/black cloud yesterday when set off hard in first,.
Got a run out tomoz so will check dip stick for smoke.

IF it is the pcv also start the engine and loosen the oil filler cap BUT leave it in place,if it is pushed against your hand you have back pressure,If it is sucked back onto the filler mount it's generally ok.

ps This is what happened to mine.
