Rear speaker problem in 850 GLT Saloon
Hi,
I have noticed all of a sudden my rear speakers have stopped working properly. I have a 1992 saloon GLT which has a panasonic head unit with 2 volvo speakers on the parcel shelf and two on the dash. The sound was working fine until suddenly the back speakers just went real quiet. If you use the fader on the stereo the back speakers in the parcel shelf both work but you can only just hear them on a high volume even though the fronts work fine. I've checked the fuses for the stereo but all are ok. What else could this be? They do actually work so can't be a connection problem. There is a fuse for an amplifier but I don't think I have one? I think the speakers are run off the head unit but not sure? If there is an amp where is it situated? Its not under the driver or passenger seats or in the boot.... Any suggestions would be great before I decide to re-wire the whole lot! Thanks, Russ |

Quote:
it should be clear from the wiring on the head unit if an amp is used as there should be one din plug rather than a series of speaker wires serving each individual speaker If anyone has trouble locating an amplifier just remove the panel above the footpedals on the drivers side and it is behind the ashtray. Just wiggle the DIN plug and follow it down. It is mounted firmly and vertically to the transmission tunnel with the speaker wires and 14 pin plug (male) from the speakers and the DIN plug pointed skywards. Those with hands the size of a 6 year old will have little trouble getting the plug out. cheers jod
