Volvo or Halford battery?
My only about 3 year old Volvo battery seems to have died?! I've always been fairly happy with Halfords batteries in my other cars, what's people's feeling on this?
Should I get another Volvo or a Halfords?

I've always put Bosch in my cars and they have always lasted well. Through a motor factors (eg Camberley Auto Factors) they are reasonably priced and certainly less expensive than Halfords. The design is suspiciously similar to Varta so am guessing there is some tech sharing going on there. Varta are always highly recommended, I like the big Bosch logo in the engine bay though !

I had a Bosch battery that had a Varta label on the side, so I reckon Varta make them. Volvo and Halfords are not the only choices you know
Halfords are a rip off for most things in my opinion. I'd go for a Varta battery from a motofactors, you can get a decent sized battery for £65-70 |

In the recent years I have returned 2 varta's (aprox. 80-90 eur here in holland) after less than a year. Died both on me. Geuss it was bad luck....My 245 gle has a volvo battery originating from se (when it was imported). It is still strong. Never charged it and the lady is only 2x a week on the road with this volvo!!! (this is like that for 3-4 years now..
But is anyone having exprience with Optima dry gel Batteries? Saw some years ago a red top in an amazon which was already in use for years the owner wa positive becouse of the high starting torques.. (Price is more than double though compared to conventional bateries) |

Just as point of interest Bosch batteries are actually produced for them by Varta, who who are the OEM to Volvo, BMW VAG and many others

I"ve had a posi pac power plus battery 065 in my bus for nearly seven years and when it was first installed (salvaged from my 360gls)..had been discharged once or twice due to tailgate interior light..I cant complain but to be fair i have a feeling it is getting tired so this thread is really useful..hj.
