XC90 V8 with twin-axle Bailey
Just a quick question looking for comparisons if possible.
I towed my van back from Germany @850 miles and taking it easy (@65mph) returned 14.1MPG. I knew it was going to be thirsty when towing and it was the hills that killed me. Comparing this to standard round town consumption of 18MPG it doesn't really seem that bad ! What would a similar outfit get if I was driving the diesel ? If its lots more MPG please don't tell me .... what I want to hear is that its not that much better ;-)

You shouldn't ask. You don't have a V8 for economy, enjoy the noise!!

well, towing a Bailey Pegasus 646 (1750kg) behind a laden XC60 D5, I get about 22-24mpg. Not quite same outfit but looking in the fuel consumption thread, seems anywhere from 15-22 is about right with a heavy caravan....

I'd 2nd that about fitting LPG.
My old jeep did 14mpg whilst towing 2tonnes, but with LPG it bought cost wise upto the equivalent of 25-30mpg on petrol. Now I have a diesel jeep which when towing the same setup, it does 20mpg. Of course just after I purchased my diesel, suddenly loads of v8's already converted to LPG came up for sale. Just pick a decent installer near you!!!! Ask to see there work and if they have experience of doing volvo v8's |

You are not alone , 15.5mpg with our V70 T6 and 1800KG twin Bailey.
Going to chop it in for a XC70 D5 ,as when I had a XC90 D5 185 polestar ,got around 23mpg towing. Still I like the sound of the petrol , V8 even more so. Roger. |
