Default Immobiliser issue; what are my options?

Hi all

My 57 reg V50 has taken to driving along just fine, then all of a sudden giving multiple warning messages (brakes, air con compressor etc), then "Immobiliser; refer manual", and going into limp mode and forcing me off the road. My mechanic has cleared the error codes, suggested I try the other key in case key related....but problem persists. Both keys work fine BTW.

They suspect an issue with the immob control box which apparently can allow water egress after a number of years due to brittle plastic...car is nearly 15yrs old, 209K miles....she's a great old bus normally, but not worth a lot!

Any suggestions/experiences with similar etc, re costs involved, whether it's a terminal affliction for an older car, or if there's a cost effective solution etc?
Cheers!

Taken the CEM out and check for corrosion or water ingress.

If you have 2.0 d then is a chance low battery wiped off synch codes in CEM. Only remedy is reload with vida online or locksmith to synchronize key code with cem and ecu.
