XC60 rear indicator bulbs
What fun! The entire light assembly must come out to change the rear indicator bulbs. What I thought would take 10 min is probably a 3-hour job.

was it the bulb? I have never changed a volvo indicator bulb in over 40 years working on them daily... the 340 had some minor connection problems at the bulb holder but never a bulb blown....

Cough, the indicator bulb was working fine; I just thought I would replace it with some sexy, brighter LEDs. However, disaster has struck: the brake light bulb has fallen out of its holder and into the cluster, so it needs to come out.

Just changed the rear indicator bulbs on my S80. Used the genuine ones that come in the Volvo bulb kits. Mine hadn’t blown just lost the colour. Not bad for 10yr old.

As hes said ^^^ usually have to change them on models with clear lenses as the paint flakes........ otherwise they're immortal.

I tried recovering the bulb with a magnetic pick-up tool but was thwarted 'cause the metal bit of the bulb is diamagnetic. The day was saved using one of these:- |

I didn't take any notice of how accessible the indicator bulbs were while I had my hand in the back of the light fittings so if they are a big job fingers crossed they don't fail. |

And that's the very tool I used; I had it hidden in my workshop once found I used it to carefully fish out the bulb, and all is good now.

I've had two Volvo cars since 2006. Earlier this year one of the front indicator bulbs went, it was black, had blown. I bought two bulbs thinking if one has gone the other will soon. Swapped out the blown bulb and switched on the hazard lights, the new bulb was a much deeper, richer, brighter colour so I swapped the other side keeping the bulb as a spare.
Under the clear front headlight they fade badly in bright sunlight.
