Default LuK clutch and DMF has arrived...

... and now I'm committed. So on the box (see attached photo) I'm the bloke on the left with a large cross blocking my way. But there's no stopping my enthusiasm, so maybe this weekend, maybe next.

Glad to see you got the one spanner kit. Haynes says it's suitable for a novice with little or no experience
Best of luck.

I've done a whole lot of reading (internet, Haynes and VIDA), watched a few hours of YouTube videos, and bought a few tools with the money that I'm saving. I reckon it'll be tricky, but not too bad. I'm going to try an improvised compression tool by using a 300mm bearing puller, which I think may just work - but what I think and what is reality can be poles apart.

The compression bit is the easy part it's keeping the adjuster lock ring in the correct position whilst it's compressed that's hard without the tool as well as tightening the cover bolts down. Have you looked on eBay you probs have but when I was looking to do mine you could get a complete clutch tool kit for self adjusting clutches for about 80 90 pound which I thought was good

Yeah, they are about £115-£120 now. I'll try my way, and curse if it doesn't work Haynes says a screwdriver is adequate on the adjuster ring - as long as I can release the tension while holding it still. May need the wife/daughter to lend a hand...

D5Meister made his locking tools and has offered them on here for favourable terms so maybe pm him.......
Good luck with it too, you're a braver man than I.
My logic is to use the money I've saved doing everything else and pay someone to give me a day off that particular job.

I've been in touch with D5Meister and he prefers collection for the tools, so only an option if I get really stuck I'll have my S40 available so it's a bit of an insurance policy. While I know that I'll ache and it'll take ages, I'm quite looking forward to it really.

I must add that I like the box warning illustration which basically says this isn't a job for a normal man, this is a job for a man with a big spanner and a hat.
I hope you have both.
