Default Strange One....

As per title.... On run in to work other morning, Audi TT got my attention joining M53 abruptly at crazy speed, only to haul anchors on then pull out very sharply, narrowly misding car in front. Then on M56 slip road cuts over at very last minute before slowing on the long looping corner... Proceeded to drive in ridiculous manner onto M56.

Curiousity got better of me and i put details onto Gov site as to whether car was MOT'd or not. From registration (private plate) details show Audi TT, black. Car on motorway was Audi TT WHITE??!!

DVLA error or dodgy motor (bit like the driving)?!

More than likely it's been "wrapped" in white as its a more desirable colour.
As far I'm aware it's not classed as a colour change because it's removable so you don't need to update the DVLA records..

Genuinely, you dont have to advise of the colour change??

Insurance company who try and null policy at slightest change might try the loophole!!

Sorry my mistake,

It seems the DVLA issued an update circa 2015 that a complete colour change wrap needs to be declared.

Perhaps the owner of the Audi just hasn't done it.
If his driving manner is anything to go by he clearly doesn't bother with the rules of the road.

Terry.

Happens more often than you might think, there are people involved so mistakes happen. The other funny thing with colour details is that there aren't actually that many different catergories so some cars end up showing as being a different colour to what we see because there isn't the option on the DVLA that relates to the colour it really is.

Just thought, third option is you misread the VRM and it relates to another car that is correct. Easily done as only one incorrect number or letter could easily come back to another car registered as part of the same batch of registrations that may be a different colour.

Another possibility is that the car is stolen and has cloned plates fitted from the black TT.

Doubt it would be cloned plates, incorrect VRM or details held by DVLA most likely. Cloned plates are normally done so that it comes back as a car of the same make, model and colour as far more likely to get stopped if it comes back as being a colour other than the one it is.
