ECU Errors
The other day I got into car as usual and then all of a sudden the car shows an error 'Engine System Service Urgent' and the car goes into Limp mode. was a bit of a strange one as the car then cut out.
Car now at Garage and he ut the comp on it then hundreds of error codes come up, from Steering, to ABS, and Low Fuel pressure etc. really surprised me. They are going through each code and cancelling them, giving the car a service and changing the fuel filter as the low fuel pressure keeps coming back. Has anyone else had this problem? I am worried it's an ECU failure and will need to get one of those. Car is 2004 XC90, D5. Covered 164k. never had anything like this with a car and this one has been serviced regularly and anytime anything wrong been fixed right away. |

Engine system service means there is a fault in engine,
Low fuel pressure codes, a new filter is a good place to start

They are most likely historic codes, many codes stay recorded until manually cleared.
If they come back once cleared then that's an indication of an ongoing problem. If the only one that's coming back is the low fuel pressure then as Rooster says replacing the fuel filter is a good starting point. |

It's likely to be fuel filter especially if it's not been changed, or could be in tank pump. They will both give the same symptoms. The filter is significantly cheaper option, so try that first.

Changed fuel filter, and reset all codes. Also serviced the car with new filter, oil etc. All seems to be working.
Was told that due to the low fuel pressure etc, that is causes a few other codes to come up due to the engine not running correctly. All seems fine now, so will let you know after my first 50 miles journey on Wed. |
