XC90 - Retrofit of front parking sensors or park pilot assis

Hopefully someone will be able to provide some guidance please....

...I have just bought a 2017 XC90 Inscription with 360 camera and BLIS. Although we have rear parking sensors which activate when in reverse, we don’t have front parking sensors to help give an audible warning of distance to an object in front when parking.
The front camera is great but needs to be activated separately unless reverse is selected, but my wife is finding the size of the car a challenge without the safety net of the front sensors.

Is it possible to retrofit the front sensors to perform like as the rear sensors do? We don’t want the self-park feature...just the front sensors.

Yes, but only with he addition of Park Assist Pilot at vast expense (I think we're talking ~£1500 from when I investigated it for my car).

Wish I'd just paid for it after I drove into a low wall that didn't show on the camera...

Thanks for the feedback. Did your dealer confirm if it is possible to retrofit?

I couldn’t find any documentation to confirm if it is possible. I have found fitting instructions for LHD vehicles and it does seem to be a large job but I think it is vehicles that have no sensors installed at all. Also new software download via VIDA is necessary.

I should have been more on-point with specs but assumed with camera it would have sensors too.

Different car but I suspect that the answer will be the same for the XC90 and that is no. Front sensors couldn't be fitted when I enquired. I had to plump for the Park Assist Pilot at c£1500 to get the front sensors. Don't forget that you also get side sensors too so whilst expensive it isn't as bad as it first seems. However I do believe that there are after market people who can just fit parking sensors without all the bells and whistles of Park Assist Pilot.

These car do need front sensors and it is an omission on Volvos part not to fit them as standard in my view. By fitting the Volvo Park Assist Pilot you do maintain your warranty status for what it is worth.

As mentioned above - it is possible to add front parking sensors, but only as part of the park assist pack which costs £1000-£1500. I have the same setup as you albeit on my V60, and asked about retrofitting when I got the car and that was the response from two separate Volvo dealers.

Daft thing is, for me I was trying to keep under the £40k mark for tax reasons and so chose the Smartphone Integration over front sensors. The smartphone interface can be retrofitted for not much more than it costs as a factory order, so should have done my homework beforehand it seems!

In the end I didn't bother, and I've adapted to using the cameras. I'll make sure I spec the front sensors on my next car though, as I miss the beeps!

Hi can you please let me know the dealer who said this could be done. I spoke to 2 dealers and they mentioned this cannot be done and has to be done in the factory. Thanks
