P1800 Pre-purchase
Hello All
I am looking to buy a beautiful P1800 from abroad (*alarm bells - I know*) and am in the process of checking the vehicle's / owner's authenticity. From that snaps that the seller has sent me I can see that the chassis number correlates to a car that Don Thibault has had in the past - http://volvochassis.se/chassis.php?s...&s_Id=&s_Name= I have contacted Don (no reply) and am wondering how to proceed in verifying the legitimacy of this vehicle. I don't have vehicle reg. details just the vehicle numbers - so am using the chassis number as a good starting point. My question - does anyone know of a good data-base / web-site where I might be able to further check this car's heritage? Many thanks in advance for your time! |

You answered your own question in the first sentence, alarm bells. I cannot think of anyway you can check the authenticity of either other tan go and h.ave a look yourself. You did not say what country the car is in, presume the states. It maybe all above board, but the photos could lie, and when they were taken. Could have been just After restoration say 10 years ago. I would say if in any doubts don't buy it. My advice woud be Wait for a good uk car that you can go and scrutinise, these cars rot badly, I know I've got one. Expensive to buy, and restore, even doing it yourself. Sorry it's not more helpful, and its only my opinion. Dave |

If its in the states, where is it? I (or someone I know) might be close to give an unbiased option.
