recommendation sought
Hi, new to this forum having recently taken in a pretty rusty P1800s 1965.
I bought this in the knowledge that it was going to be a full resto job but it does have most of the original parts and is basically all there - apart from some of the body and chassis!! Having spoken to a couple of the larger local car restorers I have a feeling that the costs of resto are likely to exceed ultimate car value (no real surprise). But before I consider scrapping and selling off the components I wonder whether the forum could point me in the direction of any small scale 'enthusiast' restorers that may not demand the same costs as a larger commerical restorer. The car is in the Tunbridge Wells, Kent area so ideally someone based in Kent, Sussex or Surrey. I would love to get this car back on the road where it belongs. Thanks in advance for any advice or contacts. Ben |

If you can strip down the car and refit yourself then you will save a lot of money.

Hi Ben
I do like to hear 'scrapping and selling off the components'... if you can't afford the works that ok, put some pic's up and a price, i am sure you will get a buyer.. everyone is always interested - if the price is right. J. |

Ben
I am also restoring a 1966 model, what started as plans for a rolling Reston fast turned into a full on rebuild. Since starting I have found a network of good tradesmen covering bodywork, chroming, mechanical etc.. I am also fairly close in Tonbridge if you want advice or to pick my brains further, wouldn't say I'm an expert by any means but know the feeling of starting a whole new project. John |

Hi John (Jocky66)
Thank you for the response on the voc. Couldn't get an off forum response to you. I would welcome a chat regarding local trades, particularly with regard to local bodywork specialists. So any further contacts greatly appreciated. Also to see you project might be good before I 'jump in' completely. My number is 07810 058088 or drop me your number and note as to when most convenient to get in touch. |
