340 auto
When the engine is at working temperature my 340 auto(1989) crunches if I try to go into gear. Will go into gear but the noise does not bode well. Anybody any ideas since Haynes manual does not seem to cover and local Volvo repair man can't solve.
Car in good condition and would love to keep. Brian Burrows |

RE: 340 auto
Erm, as I said in my reply to the other poster, I'm not at all knowledgeable on CVT's but it sounds as though the clutch could well be dragging and either needs changing or needs the clearance adjusting. Its a bit of a performance checking the shims etc. There's a good procedure on how to do it in a previous Volvo Technical driver, written by George Dickinson the Club authority on the CVT system.
just a guess though. You're idle speed could just be too high. It needs to be about 750 rpm when warm. |
