Default Xc40 dash cam,yes or no!?

Hi people,
Thinking about a dashcam for my xc40 but spoke to Glasgow volvo who didn't reccomend because of the proximity to the radar sensor at the top of the windscreen so looking for your opinions on this, have you had one fitted with no problems or has anyone experienced problems because of it,your views and opinions are much appreciated!🙂

I have a strange mistrust of motorists using Dash Cams.

Whether it's the little white light facing you or the 'TV Screen' when you pull up behind I just can't help thinking they are all expecting to crash and need a recording!

A well hidden DC would be good though.

My little Mobiuses (Mobii?) are tiny and have no screen. The flashing red and amber LEDs don't help though!

The only dashcam problem I’ve had was in a non-Volvo, where the dashcam all but killed the DAB radio signal. I was told that better shielding of the camera’s cable, (or possibly a better camera?) would have cured it. Perhaps this could be a factor here?

Not an XC40, but I've fitted a Nextbase 222 to my V60 just to the left of the rear view mirror and as high as it could go (so in the area of the City Safety sensor). So far that arrangement has not triggered the City Safety system nor caused any alarm condition.

I think its more the case of using it an independent witness should anything happen. In this day and age, people don't even stop for a collision or causing one, people bumping the car whilst trying to park, road rage etc.

Can't trust anyone these days...…….

For the OP, whilst not on that specific model, there are many about and easily fitted either side of the gizmo panel in the centre top of the windscreen.

However, not all cameras are equal.

I would highly recommend a 2 channel one (front & rear) as that always provides good evidence. I use the VIOFO A129 Duo models nowadays due to the lens and picture quality, reliability, secure fit, discreet enough profile and memory card capacity.

your not the only one

those that use them as a "in case" fair play
sadly the stupidly high % who see themselves as "traffic police" and Ab-use the camera's function to "Prove" they are a better driver/in the right/pretend plod ,,,
