Default Mpg...

I'm going to have a bash at seeing if this stuff really works.

Filled up earlier in the week with regular shell diesel and that has returned an average 30.6 MPG.

Filled up again today with regular shell diesel but this time added Redex diesel treatment, so let's see how this tankfull goes then its onto V-Power

I have the same problem, no Shell station nearby. Nearest is 10 miles away and is a motorway service station...
I have been using Tesco fuel for a while (mainly as I keep getting the 5p/liter off vouchers) and have only last week started using my local Total again.
I must say that even though this is not a v-power type but their regular diesel, it does sounds like the engine is running smoother

Must say I ran my D5 V70 on Tesco & Sainsbury juice and it felt punchy enough and gave me decent mpg but Im really keen to see what results shifting to Shell will produce in the big XC

I found that diesel treatment reduced my mpg a bit.

I've been using v power for a couple of months now in my XC90 (205bhp) - consumption is marginally better and does feel a bit smoother. But I primarily buy it with 'it's likely to be better for the engine in the long term' in mind . So not terribly scientific!

My Citroec C5 (110 hp HDI) runs MUCH better on it, the turbo lag is almost non evident on it but on cheap supermarket diesel really makes itself felt!
Millers diesel additive is fantastic stuff I have to say, my old Rover 418 (Peugeot XUD7 tdi motor) pulled like a train on it and would do over 50 mpg even if you were clogging it along at 100 mph plus.
In fact the Citroen C5 feels snail like compared to that old Rover, would still have her if she hadn`t rotted in areas that would have cost a pretty penny to sort.
The motor had done 115,000 and ran like an eight day clock, plenty of power and reliability was incredible, only ever let me down once in ten years plus of ownership when a turbo vacuum hose split through old age!
She went to the scrapyard with a nylon ferrule I fitted at the roadside still in that hose.

Well, that tankfull of regular Shell returned a disappointing 29.8 MPG, have filled up once again today with Regular, my thinking is lets have 3 full tanks of this then 3 full tanks of V Power to get a fair average.

To be continued then...

Ditch the Redex and try a few tanks unadulterated. I found the treatments work in tdi engines but have the opposite effect in common rail.

Your spot on Roy, no Redex in this latest tankfull but the average MPG is still going down

Lol looks like my experiment is doomed
