Default Head Gasket Help Needed

Hi 1991 940 2.0t 200000 miles, over the last few weeks car been using water and there is emulsification, not to bad but it is there. Anyway i have been told that you can buy various products to pour into the cooling system that can seal up any leaks, cracks, and broken gaskets.

I have looked at some and they are called
STEEL SEAL
THERMAGASKET
K&W PERMANENT MATALLIC BLOCK SEAL

and there are some others, CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A PRODUCT.

THANKS NICK

Think you will have to end up doing the headgasket.

I also believe it is head gasket time!!!

It is a fairly straight forward job on these cars as you can actually get in at the problem.
The engine is situated the right way round.....LOL
There is no fiddling in behind the engine to get stuff off!!!
I recently put a head gasket on my sons peugeot 306 tdi now there is a car which I would never tackle again!!!!! Talk about a car being built around an engine.
It took me 2 weeks of evenings to sort it.
I reckon a weekend would put a head gasket on a 2.0 turbo.
May as well change all the belts at the same time.

Head gaskets on red blocks can be done in a day (as long as skimming isn't required). I would suggest using a genuine gasket though. I had an aftermarket gasket that failed within 3 years (fire ring bust)

Same as other posts on here, I would say it's head gasket replacement time.
Over the years i've tried all sorts of so called miracle cures for engine problems and most have been a complete waste of money. If you like the car and think it's worth doing. Get a genuine Volvo gasket set and go for it. I say genuine, because when I replaced mine, I bought a cheap head gasket, spent a weekend doing the job and within a couple of thousand miles, had the same problem again!
The car is fine now, but it was not only the cost, I was not happy doing the job twice.

I agree with the other posters, Get the headgasket done, It will cost about £250 tops for a garage to do it. If you add any stuff to the coolant to try and seal it youll do more damage as it wont work and the emusified oil will kill the engine.
