Default V70 headlamps - no main beam.

First post here, Hi all.

I seem to have lost my main beam on 2005 V70. Dipped and sides all ok but when pulling back main/dipped stalk nothing changes. Same with light select switch in all 3 positions, and with Ignition off (see you home lights ?).

Assumed either a relay or fuse but cannot find anything in manual. Any help before I jump in with screwdrivers and multimeter.

Stalk feels and moves fine, no feeling of restriction or bits crunching about.

Ta
Dave

No Blue dash indicator.

Dipped beams stay on, both stopped at same time so assume switching function.

Are you actually not getting full beam , or are you just not getting the blue indicator light, the indicator light fails with the dashboard .

No full beam, no blue light, no little clicks, its as if the switch is not connected - and no, I have not been inside the steering column .. yet

Most likely to be a fuse or a relay , the switch is pretty robust, should have known you would know you were missing full beam , that Killin road is pretty dark. Lol.

The usual response, that we all (if honest) like to give in relation to main beam problems with these cars is 'RTFM'.

But I believe there have been one or two threads where the actual switching mechanism within the stalk has failed. Sounds plausible, here.

PS, Orca2's suggestion sounds plausible too. Collision of posts, see timestamps!

Guess what I am asking is assuming the switch in the stalk is ok what connects this to the headlamps, is there a relay or elec switch, or is the switching done in the stalk. See in the circuit diags that leads go through the CEM unit ?, what happens in there ?

Thanks Bill. I did see a thread a while ago but all seemed to be related to main light switch position ( not in 12 o'clock posn).

Guess it's time to check the stalk switch.
