Question V70 2001MY 2.3 T5 - Drivers seat belt stuck

Hi All,

(Apologies if this appears twice, as I posted it, then couldn't find the post, so reposting)..

Yesterday, the drivers seat belt (RHD, Right Side) wouldn't retract. Then after some pulling about on the belt, it did retract, but made a loud ratcheting noise as it did. It now won't pull out, at all. The seat is as far back as it will go, to get some slack on the belt, but that hasn't helped.

I have managed to remove most of the trim parts around the where the belt is attached, but not managed to get the entire trim off to get the belt out. Looks like the seat may need to come out to get to the bottom attachment.

I am aware of the pyrotechnic unit (pre tensioner), and the curtain airbag etc - and have the main battery disconnected at the moment.

There seem to be plenty of belts available on the bay etc, are the ones for the same year S60/V70 the same ? I suppose that I ought to buy new, given it is a safety critical item ??

Any ideas on how best to proceed would be great.

Many thanks

Jon
