Steering rack replacement
Need to replace steering rack as leaking quite badly - suspect that wrong power steering fluid used by previous owner and seals gone. A couple of questions
1. Does the replacement rack have to be exactly the same part no as old one ? Are there a number of rack parts that would fit. Seen some on ebay and was thinking of getting one and getting it refurbed by a steering rack specialist so that had one ready to swap. 2. How best to support the car whilst taking the rack out. Given that you have to drop the sub frame, I didn't want to support near this and prevent being able to lower. Any suggestions gratefully received. John |

There are 4 different rack types. 2 have the same letters but 1 will be speed sensitive. And in 2004 (i think) they changed again with different letters but again 1 speed sensitive.
Sorry can't help more than that. You could try ringing your local dealer and they should be able to tell you which you have.
