A few early 240 parts wanted. Mudflap etc. Oh, and Hi.
Hi gents,
Just purchased my first 240 (1980 estate) and I'm looking to make her a little more complete. Not big things, I was quite lucky with the purchase, but she is missing a drivers side (OS) rear mud flap. The large type with white "Volvo" on it. The drives door doesn't quite line up correctly. Could be the lower hinge (has a little play) or did they change the door shape slightly and its had a later door fitted? It's the profile at the top of the door at the close line that looks wrong. Need to investigate a little more........... Passenger wing mirror is loose and points at the floor when I do more than 20mph. Can probably tighten something there. Drivers mirror is a bit more broken though, could do with a new one of those. One of the hub caps is missing too. Mud flap required for the passenger side like this one...... Hub caps like this....... Cheers, Sam. |

Hi Sam: not seen you on here before so welcome to this section. I thought I had a hubcap but mine has a big V in the centre so not the same. Will look for mudflap tomorrow but is your mounting bracket OK as they often break off.
Twin spots behind grill look nice: I like early style 240s so really MUST get my '76 saloon ready for use. They wear the big bumpers so well. P |

Welcome Sam!
very similar to mine, even the same colour! I replaced my lower hinge and the door is waaaaay better. I have both of my mud flaps in the boot, could be persuaded to part with them |

Tip
The door hinges are the same front and rear, so buy a rear door lower hinge for both sides, paint them the right colour and fit them for that brand new door opening feeling (because obviously the rear doors get a lot less use than the front) The mud flaps were available new from volvo for about £15/side last time i checked.

Thanks for looking for the hub cap for me. I have a spare in the boot but it doesn't fit my wheel type, probably the same as the one you have. The one I need mounts on the wheel centre bore, this other one clips around the outer diameter of the cap. I'm torn on the bumpers. I was going to see if the later bumpers fit or if there is another smaller option. They are just too big for the look I'm after. Quote:
Interested in the flaps. Quote:
Are the hinges the same on all 240 model years? The only mudflaps of similar style I can find don't have the bottom in white, its black. I would buy two new ones if that price is still correct. |

Hinges are the same on all except the very first 1975 models.
