V50 Windscreen
So took my 2011 V50 to a specialist today to try and solve a clutch issue (that’s another thread)
He mentioned to be about the windscreen after showing me mine and not being sealed properly. The guy mentioned is could be possible to bug Volvo to get them to replace it for free as it was a known safety fault. I’m just curious big anyone has done the same and if so how successful were you and what was the process of contacting Volvo about getting it replaced |

Hi,
Same car and problem last year. Took it to the main dealer and they removed and re-fitted it without charge as a token of good will. It was all very straight forward as I believe they were aware of the common issue and we just spoke nicely to them. BR. |

Thanks
Thanks for the reply I’ll look into it. I noticed when I took the roof lining off before to check out the drainage pipes for the sun roof that the windscreen was poorly sealed.

I tried and failed to get Volvo to reseal mine (despite it being in for a service at the time). Ended up getting a local independent windscreen firm to do it. No harm in asking though. Get it done ASAP to try and prevent any damage to the ECU from water ingress.

Volvo agreed to remove and reseal mine free of charge but it got damaged on removal. I ended up with a bill for about £600 for a new screen and rain sensor. Wasn't remotely amused.

This was mentioned by the guys at a Volvo garage I spoke to. I may look around at seeing what the prices are for a new windscreen even if I go through my insurance
