Default intercooler or dpf

Hello and help
i have a c70 on a 2008 plate blowing blue smoke sometimes profusly. when the car is taken for a run sometimes the soot filter full message comes on but is intermittent. Sometimes the service required warning also comes on and the car intermittently goes into limp mode. If the car is then left overnight then started again in the morning the messages are gone. I took te car to the main dealer in wakefield and asked for a diagnosis they put the car onto their vida machine and said the dpf was blocked and needed replacing at a cost of 800 quid i declined and took the car to my local garage. He said not to buy a new one and he would try and clean it. Before taking it off he tried a regen which failed when it got to the last ten minutes, he tried again same result. he said the pressure sensor was faulty and changed it then the regen worked he also said his computer was indicating that the filter was only partialy full and not blocked. I have since driven to the coast the car is still the same blowing blue smoke smelling of burning oil and the messages are back. Am i going down the wrong road here thinking its the dpf could it be the inter cooler holed as i have read about on here or something else. the car has only done 52000 any help greatly appreciated.

Whats the cars history like, ie do you know if its ever been misfueled,

Seen these before where they have been misfuelled and it has taken lining off cat and car is unable to get dpf hot enough to regen and instead poors blue smoke out of exhaust,

The front 02 sensor can also cause soot filter issues altho may not log fault codes but can also cause the cars not to get upto temp

Hi
As far as i know there has been no misfuel the dilema for me is dealer saying its dpf and local saying its not blocked the car goes on long run regular. Because the warning lights are saying soot filter full im leaning towards the dpf but dont want to fork out until im sure.

Surely the oil burning has to be sorted first. As I am sure that would eventually block a DPF.

hi
Ye i think your right but is the car burning oil because part of the regen as far as i know it is to put some fuel into the dpf to assist with soot burning. And if this fails to regen the excess fuel is then put into the sump thining the oil which is then passing the stem seals and coming out as blue smoke. This is what the dealer is saying and so because the dpf is blocked the car is burning oil. i dont know what to believe.

There is a reason the dpf is blocked, they don't just block on there own

Do you know what the dpf pressure sensor is reading at idle???

Hi
sorry no but my local garage changed the pressure sensor he said his computer indicated the dpf had 29 grams of soot which was not blocked but the sensor was erratic so it was changed and then regened. he also said that if the dpf was blocked it would not regen.

You get dpf blocked and engine message because your car is burning oil, not other way around. Have seen it before, same as yours, but no solution so far.

Is it burning the oil because the dpf is blocked and therfore thinning the oil by diluting it with fuel which then passes the valve stem oil seals.

Hi
I would think it is a "Burning oil! Problem. Quick check, do an oil change, and see if there is blue smoke still. If there is it would point to an engine problem burning oil. If it is fuel dilution causing it, it will take a time to dilute the oil again.
