V90 thinks a trailer is attached!
Has anyone else encountered this odd situation?
My V90 has a genuine Volvo electric folding towbar fitted from new but now gets little use since we sold our caravan last year. Those who are familiar with the features of these towbars will know that a trailer lighting check etc can be made when the towbar senses that a trailer is plugged in. Last weekend my car has started to show random trailer lighting error messages, brake lights, indicators inoperative, even though no trailer is being towed! More worrying is the fact that BLIS is disabled when towing (this is a normal feature) but my BLIS is also turned off in the sensus menu when I'm not towing anything! The final odd thing is that the green indicator arrow on the centre screen is flashing twice as quickly as the indicators on the car are actually flashing yet the 'clicking' sound is normal in that it matches the car's indicators! I know it probably means a dealer visit for investigation but I just wondered is any other towbar-equipped SPA cars had experienced similar gremlins? Paul

It might be worth cleaning the electrical socket, try spraying it with WD40.

Yes, dealer investigated and found some light damp and corrosion on the trailer module connections under the boot floor possibly caused by a blocked sunroof drain.
As this was at a time when the semi-conductor shortage was causing supply issues for a replacement module under warranty, they cleaned the connections, cured the sunroof rear drain and fortunately the problem has never recurred. I recall the trailer module is located in the rear right hand corner of the car under the cargo floor and side panel. Hope this helps?
