Hi all,

So that time has come to consider changing my MY17 XC90 Inscription (again). Have been looking at new but also seen a very good deal on a used XC90 R-Dynamic Pro. Everything on the car is right for me, other than the colour, which I'm just not sure about. Its Pine Grey, our choice on a new build would be Bright Silver or Thunder Grey.

Its difficult without being able to go along and see, but having looked at a lot of images online, I'm interpreting it as quite a dark grey in flat light, then bringing out dusky/camo greens in sunlight?

Would anyone who has/known the colour agree? How would you describe it?

There's a few YouTube videos with Pine Grey cars which might give you some idea. I don't know anyone who has this colour though - I can see four Volvos from where I'm sitting, none are this colour.

I loved my previous Pine Grey XC60. As you say in dull lighting it looks like a normal grey but under streetlamps and sunshine the colour can really pop from grey to green to brown.

Pine Grey looks nicer than Thunder Grey imo.

I have a Pine Grey V60 and I love it, the colour changes in different lights, I specced it from new and would have no hesitation in choosing it again when I come to change!

I have a 2018 R-Design Pro in dark grey, I think this model would look absolutely fab in pine grey, especially if it the model you are after with the spec you desire. It is imho a modern twist on just silver or grey - even though I currently own a grey one.

My V90 is pine grey, looks fine. Just avoid pebble grey, it's basically baby-sick.

Pine Grey is still another Grey colour unfortunately
Why didn't Volvo use a proper Green - like the dark Olive Pearl they've used previously?

Colour is very personal but I think the pine grey photo further down the thread looks great. For me thunder grey does not work on the big cars. Can't beat silver on anything and it's relatively easy to keep clean. Go for it!

We’ve gone from Osmium to Bright Silver this time - really pleased with how it looks with the black trim.

Thunder is marmite.

Pine, quite nice in v60, not keen on an XC90, very large panels show the swirls up unless treated with kid gloves
