Dealer fit options
Afternoon all,
After an enquiry about fitting a retractable towbar I asked the dealer what other options could be retrofitted to my V90CC. They pointed me in the direction of the Volvo accessory website which was actually useful. Question is, has anybody here had different options fitted by their main dealer that are not listed on the volvo website? Many thanks |

It’s possible to get CarPlay and Android Auto retrofitted. Volvo in Slough did this when I bought my V90. They remove the fascia with the single USB port in the armrest compartment and replace it with the two-port fascia, and upload the new software.
Wheels can obviously be changed - but if going to smaller diameter wheels make sure that they don’t foul the brakes. Polestar optimisation likewise - this is just software. All of those of course are in the accessories catalogue. I imagine you could probably retrofit privacy glass. Ultimately you could probably retrofit a lot of options but depending on what work has to be done, what new parts are required and what parts would be thrown away it could get quite expensive.

My dealer fitted front and back dashcams with a hardwire kit which I supplied.
As dealers can swap almost any part I would imagine they theoretically could add pretty much anything if Volvo allowed it.

Reversing camera can be retro fitted. My dealer quoted me £700. CarPlay is £300.

Thank you for all your replies. The reversing camera is certainly on the cards. Not sure on CarPlay as so far, the Sensus nav seems really good and music can be streamed via BT anyway. I don't think I'd actually use all the other integration features as they're only a distraction. I don't want WhatsApp or iMessages constantly flashing up. If somebody wants to get hold of me they can call me the old fashioned way.
The dashcam fit is an interesting one - I'll have to ask the dealer. Had one hardwired in the old car and gave peace of mind in the event of a prang. I'll have a hunt around here for info on placement to not interfere with the Intellisafe magic box. I don't know why am I also being drawn towards the illuminated boot and door sills. One step away from underlighting Max Power style |

I have previously had the illuminated sill covers and tbh though they are a nice touch , I wouldn’t pay any extra for them
To set context, the Reversing camera cost me £900 to have retro fitted but well worth it . For the tow bar, I’d check if the Volvo technician is actually fitting it or are they subcontracting to the local tow bar fitter ? Also is it a Volvo branded kit or is it a witter (or similar) kit? You can save a fair bit by going directly to the local tow bar guys and they can integrate the electrics too. It isn’t a hard job and I had one fitted ( to a previous Jaguar ) at home by a mobile fitter. Last edited by Carabind; Mar 21st, 2021 at 22:05. |

My car came with illuminated door sills installed, there's not a cat in hell's chance I'd pay extra to have them installed retrospectively though. Unless you spend a lot of time with your car doors open then there are much wiser ways to spend your money.

As an aside, does anybody know why there's a gap running along the underside of the silver trim immediately behind the front door handles (inside)? |

Yes, on my inscription V90 there is a subtle illumination from that gap during darkness.
