I had a Audi 100 Avant with the 2 litre 5 cylinder Turbo Diesel engine in the late 1990s.
I loved the car too bits it was super smooth and sounded exactly like the Audi petrol 5 cylinder engine it was super fast too and fairly economical.
But as time went by it must of missed some services before I got it as it became harder and harder to get it through the MOT smoke test.
I couldn't get anyone to pinpoint exactly what was wrong with the engine as it was so rare.
This was a pain really as once it was running it ran great.
In the end It went to the breakers yard which was a pity as it was still a solid car.
I think it's still were I parked it lol.
Audis are great until you have to repair something big on them and then it becomes big money.
If I was offered one of these Volvos with the VW/Audi TD engine I think I would avoid it as although they are cheaper than the petrol cars to fuel, but when something goes wrong on that diesel engine it's going to cost you a large fortune.
Which kind of outweighs the saving in fuel in the first place especially when they seem to command a higher price than that of the same petrol car.
