Default 760 TD on Ebay with the Audi 5 cylinder engine?

This seller reakons that this 760 TD has the Audi 5 cylinder diesel engine in, did read about a 7/9 TD series with the Audi engine in in the tecchy section once, and my mechanic has also seen one, don't know if these engines were put in aftermarket? I've just messaged him to check that it doesn't have the 6 cyl D24Tic in. If it does have the Audi engine in someone on here may well be interested in this motor, the Audi engine is better than the D24Tic in my humble opinion

have to say we had one of these, as a company car years ago, a saloon one, and it was very quick. Only problems we had with it, was when the head gasket went on it, and it needed a new head due to cracks between the valves which was a comon problem with them. Number five heater plug is a real pain to change as well due to the fuel pump, and the fact they have a timming belt on the back and front, one for fuel pump one for camshaft. It was very high specd and was a joy to drive, would be tempted in this.

Now if I had a job and some income I would have a pop at this. I have a pair of mauve 960 estate P-reg bookends in the garden and this 760 would look good alongside my 760 GLE TurboDiesel estate (silver) to make another pair. The reg on my current 760 is F 77 NBB. It has the D24TIC engine.

Default 760 diesel engine

There were a few sold, but I doubt that this car is powered by one of them. It's listed as a 2.4 and in the description the capacity is said to be 2833cc, so if this is correct it has 6 cylinders. The 5 cylinder would be 2.0 litres (being derived from the 4 cylinder 1.6).

Hes made a mistake in his advert thats a 6 cylinder . Volvo never used a 5 cylinder VW/Audi diesel ... The 6 cylinder is from the VW LT van .. 2383 cc is the D24T which weighs nearly a quarter of a ton so keep your front tyres at just under 40 psi , ( Minimum 36 psi ) if you are wondering why the edges wear off your tyres ...

They did in the 850 Tdi. A 5 cyl 2.5 with 140 Bhp. Also used in the S80 and the S/V70.

As a note....
The 740/760780 Turbo Diesel is a 6 cyl, 2.8 (as mentioned), had 122 bhp and was the fastest production diesel car in the world when it came out.

Ahem...

I think you'll find that the generally agreed figure is 2.4...
