I love the way Audi's DLR lights dim as the car indicates. Look and you'll notice it too. It's stupid.

Designer 1 - We can fit these super bright LED that scream "look at me" they'll be excellent for getting attention.

Designer 2 - But they're bright than the surrouding bulbs and out shine the indicators making it very dangerous to see when changing lanes etc.

Designer 1 -Just dim them when we indicate and then turn them back up to full whack when finished

Designer 4 - Why don't we just NOT fit them and use normal lights like most other logical companies?

Designer 1 & 2 - Shut up.

All well and good, but where was Designer 3 whilst this was going on? Making the coffee? Working on his CV to send to Volvo? Murdered and currently buried ander Designer 4's patio? We'll probably never (want to) know.

Designer 3 is a team lead, he was observing the ongoing fiasco. He's currently speaking to HR and also seeing if Max Power sell any better DLRs.

I've had similar thoughts as I'd hate to think the cost of replacing the HID lamps on our lux.

Upgrading the front parking lamps to brighter led's would be the obvious option - they are not as bright as the curvy rear ones.

by the way, take a look at the back of the car. you've got some exquisitely designed LED DRL's there - purpose built by volvo for every XC60. ;o)

"Exquisitely designed" or "cheap and tacky" like Audi's front ones? Could be in the eye of the beholder...?

Stick on ones and Gernman car ones , cheap and nasty as you can see each individual LED .
The rear tail lights of a XC60 are a masterpiece , you cant see each individual LED which is a sign of good design .Volvo have worked on the front LED parking lights too to make them subtle yet appealing .

Firstly let me state that I do get that the LEDs are not DRLs and that legislation is / has changed etc. Etc. (not looking for clarification on this point BTW!)

If weather conditions allow, I.e. Bright sunny day, then I prefer to turn the DRLs off and just run with the LEDs.

Effect is purely aesthetic, but I think it looks cracking / better than with DRLs. I don't have Xenons BTW. My opinion of course (well, and others given comments I've rec'd).

As to the rear, then I think this is probably the best angle of all,
LEDs look superb.

Appreciate the initial question was perhaps a little naive, but I do think there's sometimes a tendency to be a little 'unforgiving' to new posters on the thread.

Shows how subjective this all is. In my opinion the back view is the least appealing.

As for the "unforgiving" comment, grow a pair and you'll be fine...kidding, kidding

i'm of the opinion that it doesn't make sense to try and improve something which designers have already spent millions on.

if anyone's into changing the aesthetics of the car, perhaps this is a more appropriate forum instead: http://www.modifiedcars.com/

i'm sure they've come across this question before. there are pics of xc60's in here. just make sure you're wearing your burberry cap if you do visit.

I would like to have more brighter leds connected to darkness sensor on the dash which can be counted as DRL's. Than I could have variable illumination of leds which can adopt to daytime as in mercedeses and audis.

This can be my next led upgrade
