Yes, those are spare buttons. So if you got an extra fitted to the car in future, lets say parking sensors, you could turn them on or off using on of the spare buttons once programmed.

You can't upgrade the system yourself. Only Volvo or somewhere that specialises in fitting extras like parking sensors etc could do that.

Ok cool. It is all making more sense now. Thankyou. Do you know how much this would cost to have these options fitted?

Thanks

Well, it depends where you go.

If you get Volvo to fit them, it won't be cheap. I imagine anywhere in the region of £500-£750. That was the price many years ago, so whether it has gone up or down, I'm not sure. You'd be best checking with Volvo themselves.

If you brought it to a non-Volvo place to get sensors fitted, I imagine it would cost somewhere in the region of £300-£400.

Ok thankyou for all you help and advice.

One final thing if you don’t mind. When I bought the car the logo on the grill was nice and clean. I have got in earlier and the blue sticker has come off the emblem. Is this normal for them to fall off.

The car is in really good condition interior and exterior wise. It is just this

Unfortunately, yes. The stickers do fall of, as they can perish due to being out in the elements.

You can buy a new sticker though. Ask Volvo.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you want, you're very welcome.

Welcome to the forum! I see you're from Manchester... that's where I live too.

Thankyou for the welcome. You have made me feel so much better about the car.

Like an idiot I never looked under the bonnet when buying the car. Like i said I’m really not a car guy. I checked this evening and the engine is really bare. There is no cover on it. Don’t get me wrong it’s really quite and feels great when I’m driving it. Is this an issue or should I get a bee cover?

You mean the cover that goes over the top of the engine, the plastic one?

That plastic cover minimises dust, dirt etc gathering around the engine parts & it also offers a bit of sound proofing too. It doesn't completely stop the engine from becoming dirty though.

I'd put a cover on it personally. It won't affect the driving of the vehicle or anything of that nature by not having a cover, but its just extra protection.

Yeah the engine seems to be missing a lot of plastic covers but I honestly don’t even know where to start or what to be looking for I think I need to take it somewhere but I’m scared of being ripped of because of how much of a noob I am when it comes to cars

Where in Manchester are you located?

There's a great Volvo Specialist in Stockport called Hallmark.

1 Wharf St,
Lancashire Hill,
Stockport
SK4 1UD
Tel: 0161 429 0008

These guys are very reasonable for repairs, servicing etc. They could have a look over the car for you & will be able to tell you what covers you need. They may (not certain) be able to source the proper covers for you too.

I live in the city centre so Stockport isn’t to far at all. I will
Give them a call tomorrow and try and arrange something.

Thanks
